Pastors, this thread is not about your own identity. Rather, how do you guide church members in discerning and fulfilling their “calling?”
By seeking the glory of God. Each person must recognize that it is God who calls and gives gifts according to His will.
First, do you have a biblical worldview on vocational calling? Or, do you implicitly perpetuate the sacred vs. secular mindset that prevails even within Protestant churches?
All vocations should seek to use their calling to help others to know Jesus and to live for him as disciples. The only difference their is between sacred and secular there are some who are called to be equipers and others are called to minister specially through their vocations. This is seen clearly in Ephesias 4:11f.
Second, if you do have a biblically informed understanding, how are you equipping? Specifically, how do youth and adults identify, embrace and effectively administer each one’s calling?
First of all through teaching the truths that are taught in the Bible. This is done in the large group which is the congregation and in small groups according to Acts 2:42. Also each persons is equipted according to their specific minister.
